Cliff was born in Osaka, Japan on a military base on December 18th, 1953. Since his father was in the military he traveled the world and experienced different cultures and customs in his early stages of his life. He had always wished to have a place to call home and when his father retired from the Army in Tacoma, Washington he finally had his wish. He graduated from Bethel High School in 1972 and decided to serve his country in the U.S. Army. After his training in the Army he was assigned to Germany and once again he had the opportunity to travel through out Europe.
After his military service he attended college and then worked at Weyerhauser in research and development in fiber technology. He then took an interest in computers and transferred to the computer support group. In 1980 he started taking marital art lessons and received his black belt in Tae Kwon Do and started teaching karate lessons at the Weyerhaueser fitness center.
After a several years of employment he pursed his new passion in teaching martial arts full time and of left Weyerhaueser to open a school. He closed after a year and obviously learned many lessons and made many mistakes on how not to run a martial art school. He then became employed at Boeing as a computer analyst. He continued teaching martial arts and clubs and communities part time while working at Boeing always dreaming of once again having his own school.
Cliff then took an interest in acting and auditioned for a major role in an independent film that was to be shot on location in mainland China. He tool a leave of absence from Boeing and spent 10 weeks filming American Shaolin in several locations around China. After returning to Boeing it was long before he had to make a decision to once again purse his true passion, that of martial arts.
After he left Boeing he got work as a consultant to the Seattle Seahawks and once again opened a martial arts school. This time he did everything and had a plan to achieve success. He now owns a 10,000 square foot facility in Parkland, Washington and teaches martial arts to children and adults. He also has developed the Lean and Fit weight loss and conditioning program that is being adapted in centers around the country.
His film credits include American Shaolin, Superfights, Darkdrive, Ricochet River and has appeared in Northern Exposure and Bill Nye the Science Guy. Cliff has also been a consultant to major law enforcement agencies in the State of Washington and the military.
He is currently producing the Cliff Lenderman Show on KLAY AM 1180.
