World Martial Arts Information Center
celebrates Kyoshi Steve Lavallee's 35 years of
dedication to
Black Belt Excellence in martial arts.

Kyoshi Steve Lavallee

Tom Callos:
Dear Master Steve,
Wow, 35 years as a black belt! Where does that time go? That's some accomplishment but, in your case, it's a small part of a career that has shaped the martial arts world in many ways. Thousands of teachers know who you are, follow you, learn from you, and are or have been inspired by you; I am one of those people.
Having spent some time with you, I know you are very disciplined in your approach to martial arts, to your career, and to your playtime. Most of us would be lucky if we had half of your focus and concentration (I'd be lucky if I had 1/100th!).
As you know, life is just too darn short to do things you don't want to do and that's one of the things I admire most about you; you always seem to be doing exactly what you want to do. Way to go!
Thank you for being a role model for martial arts excellence. You always keep yourself in tip-top shape, you're so steady and straight-forward in your schools, and you're always involved in the martial arts community in a way that benefits others.
We're fortunate to have you as a part of our "village." The martial arts world is a better place because of your work and energy. I know I'm not alone in owing you a debt of gratitude!
Your friend,
Tom Callos

Of course all of us congradulate you for your 35 years of dedication to the Martial Arts and your Studio"s, but I wanted to also thank you for the impact you have had on the Martial Arts Industry as a whole. You have inspired many Martial Artists around the country and world. I also wanted to thank you for each time you made time for me when I have visited your studio un-announced (which was every time). I know first hand how busy a studio with over 500 students is, so thanks for always being professional and taking the time to visit with me while I"m there. Your a class act. Best of Luck for your next 35 years :-)
Ray Thompson  Kyoshi, we are blessed to have you as a leader and mentor to so many of us. It has been more than 15 years ago when you said to me "Ray would you rather influence 35 lives or 350 lives", this was when I only had 35 students and thought that that was the way it was supposed to be in order to produce the best students. That statement hit me like a TON of bricks and opened my eyes to my TRUE mission as a Martials Arts educator. I now have more that 600 students and they ALL are better for having the experience the Martial Arts offers. It"s because you had the time to speak to me, the little guy, that so many in South Carolina are blessed!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH, and for the inspiration1
